Venetial Plaster
Venetian plaster is a wall and ceiling finish using thin layers of plaster applied with a spatula or trowel which are then burnished to create a smooth surface with the illusion of depth and texture, such as marble or granite. The Venetian plaster techniques we use include marmorino, scagliola, and sgraffito. This finish creates a magnificent depth and richness of color.
Marmorino Veneziano is a plaster decoration used on walls. It was used as far back as Roman times, but was made popular once more during the Renaissance 500 years ago in Venice.
Painted Wood – Graining
The Art of Faux Bois. This form of decorative painting goes back hundreds of years, and it is known as Painted Wood, Faux Wood or Wood Graining. Because it is oftene very difficult and rather expensive to obtainmany woods today, Wood Graining has become a viable solution for home owners and Interior Designers and Decorators.
There are basically two types of wood graining: Coarse(rustic) and Fine(polite). Layers are built up using water colors and finished with an oil glaze. For the water colors use a beer solution tinted with a pigment, Indian inks, or Vandyke crystals dissolved in water.
